The biggest challenge with any basement project is maximizing the space available. The most cost-effective way to accomplish this is to design around existing obstructions. It may be necessary at times to relocate piping, a water heater or other fixtures to bring the final design to fruition. Such is the case here.
Both 50-gallon water heaters were relocated next to the furnace behind the double doors you see here. Combustion air for the heaters and furnace was brought in remotely via insulated duct. The ping pong table pictured here can be collapsed and stored to open up the area for larger gatherings.
